Emergency 122

A few months ago in the Kurdish region of Iraq, a young man was driving between two towns when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a post on the side of the road. Although the young man was experiencing a considerable amount of pain in his stomach, he was able to first call his father to inform him of the wreck and then contact a friend who was able to find him on the side of the road and take him to the hospital in the nearest town.

Symptom Vs Problem

When we think about the essential needs of a group of people, we generally think about providing them with food and clean water. Sometimes we consider the fact that they need a roof over their heads or clothing on their backs. Solving problems such as poverty and hunger by throwing money or spare food at them is like assuming that pain killers will heal a broken arm.

It's Like Going Home Again

At this point it would be hard to follow Operation HOPE and not be aware of the fact that we've put a very large focus on working with those in need in the nation of Haiti. Since 2010, we have been partnered with New Vision Ministries in Montrouis Haiti to provide medical aid, community support, and education to thousands across the nation of Haiti.

Teach a Man to Fish

New Vision Ministries, with the help and guidance of Operation HOPE, is doing alot to improve the lives of those living in Montrouis, Haiti. One of the many initiatives taken on by Dr. Kerry is the creation and development of a fishing ministry. We've mentioned the fishing ministry in previous posts, but I would like to go into more detail about it.

F.A.M.I.N.E. Banquet 2011

Operation HOPE's 5th Annual F.A.M.I.N.E. Banquet was held on July 9th at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center with more than 550 guests in attendance. After months of preparation by such an incredible group of volunteers, we are happy to say that this was certainly our biggest and most successful event to date. Thanks to the generous donations from businesses and individuals from across the Lubbock area, we were able to auction off a incredible collection of art, services, and products all to help the work we are currently doing in Haiti and Iraq.
